Swimming SA’s youth brigade will be looking to get the 2010 aquatics season off to a winning start, when they compete in the CANA Zone 3 & 4 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya from January 8-10. The bar of success has been set high following the SA junior team’s medal haul of 50 gold, 25 silver and 23 bronze at the CANA African Junior Championships held in Mauritius in October, and the newly-selected group of teenage swimmers will be out to prove that they too can hold their heads high in the best in their respective age groups on the African swimming scene. In wishing the national team the best of luck for the African competition in Nairobi, Swimming SA CEO Shaun Adriaanse said: “SA’s junior age group swimmers have always done well at CANA galas on our continent and I have no doubt that the current team members will not only be able to secure several medals for our country at the event in January, but will entrench themselves as talent that can be further nurtured for even greater honours at higher levels of swimming in years to come.”
