KZN Trounce Gauteng for Final

The KwaZulu-Natal women’s team beat their Gauteng counterparts by 99 runs in their CSA Women’s League semi-final encounter in Lenasia on Saturday.

Denisha Devnarain led from the front as she scored 41 to help KZN to a score of 205 all out after batting first. Other’s to make notable contributions were Nicole Nel (37) and Trisha Chetty (36).

In reply, Gauteng were bowled out for 106. Chloe Tryonne was the chief destroyer with three for 33. Rasika Maharaj and Nicole Nel backed her up superbly by taking three for 20 and two for four respectively.

Coach Horatius Sokhanyile was proud of his girls: “They now know that this is a team sport. It is all about building partnerships, working together and complimenting each other,” he said.

KZN now play Western Province in the final on March 20, at a venue still to be announced.
